This is useful for illuminating shiny surfaces or large areas, where source direction and structure can pose a limitation for imaging systems. Smart Vision Lights’ standard diffusers are usable with all visible wavelengths. UV LEDs and SWIR may require a special diffuser.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePolarizing filters are used to help to reduce specular reflections from shiny, nonmetal surfaces. Smart Vision Lights’ polarizer material has a typical transmission of about 40% while blocking about 60% of the light not in the plane of polarization.
